IFSC wins
planning accolade

Phase 2 of the Dublin Docklands’ International Financial
Services Centre (IFSC) has been awarded one of the highest accolades in
the planning profession at this year’s Royal Town Planning Institute
(RTPI)’S AWARDS IN London. IFSC 2 was short-listed from 101 entries
and received the Award for Planning for Central Areas.
Through Phase 2, the IFSC has been doubled in size, with 1,500
apartments/student residences, two million sq ft of offices, the National
College of Ireland, the four star Clarion Hotel and 30 shops and restaurants.
The development includes the Clarion Quay Residential Scheme that won
Best Housing Project in last year’s Irish Architecture Awards (2003)
and Best Residential Development of the 2003 Irish Property Awards.
The winners were announced at the high profile awards presentation that
took place at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel. Attending on behalf of
the IFSC 2 project were Docklands Authority Board members Donal Curtin,
Joan O’Connor and Niamh O’Sullivan, Terry Durney, former Director
of Planning & Technical Services for the Docklands Authority and Master
Planner for IFSC Phase 2, Tony Reddy of Anthony Reddy & Associates,
Sean O’Laoire of Murray O’Laoire Architects and Martin Jones
of Burke Kennedy Doyle.
